If you own a house in Costa Rica, or plan to have it for renting purposes thru the hosting app Airbnb, you need to know that, from November 2023, a 13% VAT will be applied.
According to our Gov, there are two options for charging the VAT: a) you must register with the Tax Office and collect the tax directly or, b) an automatic charge through the credit cards.
This tax must be assumed by the users/clients, but the owner or their property managers should keep control of the orders, which will be automatically connected with such app. Same luck will have the operating systems Vrbo, Homeaway, etc.
